It's tough for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

This is the unit that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to an additional six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed 1,294 days without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, the ones sought by the peak baggers, are what's still available for a squad that has achieved everything.

It needed until Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase exceeding 300, taking back their record for the highest in the women's 50-over format, is, in truth, a tribute to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over five decades.

It's challenging for their hitters to hold a record if not afforded the possibility.

Some will argue the case for championship match pressure. Some might respond with the test that comes when confronting a historic chase and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was considerably tougher to see coming.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 happened while she led the batting statistics, but this performance followed six innings in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've been watching me in training, it was a challenging time because it appeared I've had no rhythm completely," commented Healy.

"But once you step out on the field, your competitive nature take over and you just lock into the match."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her major advantage - and a priceless quality in succeeding famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, dismissed by the young fast bowler in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's motivation.

A single came off Gaud's first delivery and from there the right-hander was in motion.

"An opportunity to take the field and lock in a contest with her and simply enjoy myself in that aspect, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 balls - her swiftest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, hitting 21 fours and three maximums.

By the time she was removed Australia needed 66 additional runs at a run-a-ball - an unconquered height now demanding an easy conclusion.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm pleased we have the belief to achieve that now," continued Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to repeat it but, if we do, we believe we can do it."

These statements will be the last competing nations at this World Cup should hear.

During the last week a belief they will win from any position has grown stronger - this triumph succeeding victory over Pakistan by 107 runs despite being 76-7 at a certain moment.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before an encounter with traditional opponents England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final place may likely be confirmed.

It was in the semi-finals they exited last year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - an encounter Healy missed because of damaged tissue in her foot as she led her country for the first time at an important competition.

Such is her determination, she later said she wanted to have participated through the pain.

However although she afterwards confessed those injuries have pushed back plans to retire, this World Cup is anticipated as her final tournament as skipper in ODI cricket and she is still to achieve a world championship as skipper.

Success in India would take her to the summit of her last major obstacle.
