She's Collected Numerous of Pokemon Hole Cards, and Nothing Can Halt Her.
The makers of Pokémon unveiled collectors to the trading card game Diamond and Pearl set back in 2007, including a Bonsly trading card. On this artwork, the Gen 4 stone creature is portrayed by designer Harada-san in a, shall we say, compromising situation. On the card, Bonsly, which evolves into Sudowoodo can be seen fallen and shedding tears. But don't misunderstand, though. As its move the move Fake Tears, the little creature is trying to sway their opponent's emotions to decreasing their attack. Unforgettable artwork, no? Musician and harpist Emily Hopkins is a firm believer. She possesses a collection book with 305 cards of Bonsly to show for it.

But that isn't the whole collection either. She's got 20 reverse holographic editions of this particular card, showing the small Pokémon with shiny foil covering everything except the central artwork. The crown jewel, yet, is the PSA 6-graded reverse holo Bonsly card. Sure, it isn't a mint-condition Charizard illustration. However, can you claim a goofy, close to mint Bonsly card kept forever immortalized? I didn't think so.
Origins of the Collection
Emily dedicated a large part of this year accumulating all available Bonsly cards from that year that she could locate. She discovered of this rare card at the start of the year, during a discussion the notoriously odd cards among collectors with an employee at a local shop. Crying Omanyte was in the running, as was the forever alone Cubone on a park ride. Yet it was The sobbing Bonsly, also known as card number 17, that caught her interest.
The Concept of Bonsly
Bonsly draws clear inspiration on bonsai trees, that are commonly placed in pots with holes at the bottom. They are designed to support healthy development, in fact enthusiasts encourage each other to create openings in their containers when none are present. Additionally, bonsai may sit on low dishes without holes, referred to as suiban, and the retained water could aid caretakers style their trees to resemble outdoor scenes. Bonsly fits the initial category, hence the hole.

Despite this logical explanation, though, The company appears somewhat a little too concerned regarding the hole in Bonsly. "Upon noticing this card on the list of oddball cards, I realized I had found my new favorite," Hopkins shares via email, adding that she felt astonished to have never seen it before. She is quick to state her fondness for the Bonsly card is completely useless, but it didn't matter. The initial interest evolved into a full-blown obsession, as Hopkins bought all copies of this card she could possibly find. She adopted a routine of going to her local card shop on a weekly basis, and was dubbed to the employees as the Bonsly collector. The store began reserving all incoming this specific card that came in only for her. Most of these cards go for a few dollars, she says, calculating that she's spent about $400 just on the binder alone.
Market Trends and Value
Nowadays, excellent Bonsly #71 cards might be valued at around fifteen dollars. While that is a premium price, run-of-the-mill Bonsly #71 cards usually go for starting at $4. This rise in cost roughly aligns with her starting point collecting seriously, although there are probably various influences. Although this card is famous with enthusiasts, Emily's social media updates about it have also garnered a huge audience.
