Critical Role Campaign 4 Introduces the Warriors Table

Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative featuring angels, demons, and dark forces growing in influence within the urban setting.

Heads-up: Key plot points for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 are included.

The Soldiers Table Introduced

Episode 3 finished on a dramatic pause and introduced the initial group of adventurers who will split off from the primary party to embark on their independent quest, apart from the additional parties.

This warrior group includes Teor (portrayed by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).

Why Split the Party?

With a large ensemble, it was evident from the beginning that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

Hence, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, weaving together the personal journeys before splitting into three separate parties: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.

What Defines the Soldiers Table

Per the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for adventurers who prefer a typically action-packed battle-oriented story mode where non-violent answers are rare.

Initially, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might look mismatched, but the events of episode 3 demonstrate why these five characters are best suited for the combat party.

Reasons to Leave

For one thing, the party understands precisely where to proceed after a intense initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.

A former ally of the deceased character—whose death started the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his own means, invading the secret base, attacking the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to dispose of.

The traitor then paid off his debts and ran away to a fortified location in the northern region, beyond the city, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.

Individual Reasons

Secondly, each character has a individual motive to depart the metropolitan area:

  • The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
  • Kattigan is familiar with Timmony and advises that it is a dangerous location.
  • The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to eliminate Teor and instead rescued him, have no other options.
  • But, their position as key figures in the influential clan could help the group access locations they normally couldn’t.
  • Moreover, The grateful character vowed a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now accompany him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

Lastly, all of them are hunted by the authorities that govern the city for a multiple motives, making staying in the city no longer safe:

  • Thimble and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and Wicander betrayed the powerful family and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
  • Teor is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.

This leaves them little choice but to travel to Timmony in quest for the traitor.

Future Episodes

Based on episode three’s follow-up content, we discover that the warrior group will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight cast members to assemble the Explorers and Planners parties.

Fans can expect discovering which characters will be in which group in the story’s final introductory chapter, released on next week.
